As a brand, we want to do one thing well, with integrity and a deep understanding of the materials and how they work in the built environment. But of course, our life does not begin and end with one product...

Every part of our business process—from manufacturing, packing, and shipping to how we operate our workplace and live in our home—deserves the same level of dedication and attention.

We’re committed as a family and a business to build our life in the world we want to live in. Every year we introduce something new to improve things. Here are a few of the key areas that Bauwerk Colour and owners Bronwyn and Andreas Riedel are particularly focused on:

Conservation Custodians

Our limewash paint is made in Perth, Australia, where we started the business, and at our headquarters in the German countryside. This 'head office' is not only where we operate but also where we manufacture a significant portion of our paints and, crucially, where we live.

Located within an environmentally protected area, we are committed to maintaining and restoring the property for the benefit of not only for our family, but our employees, the local village, and the surrounding wildlife. This commitment includes regular biodiversity inspections and various care programs, reflecting the importance we place on preserving and enhancing our surroundings.

Mindful Manufacturing

Any business needs to be mindful as it grows, but we face extra layers of complexity since we operate in a non-industrial, historic, and naturally recognized location. In addition to our role as custodians of our natural land, we are committed to preserving and restoring the historic property we call home. Running an international manufacturing business from a historic property in a wilderness area within a small village is unconventional, but it’s a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Community Contributions

Supporting local communities is at the heart of Bauwerk Colour's ethos. Since its inception, our company has actively sought to contribute positively to the areas where we operate.

From Fremantle, Australia where we started to the rural German village we live in, we are dedicated to creating opportunities for local employment, restoring properties and just generally getting involved...
