Sustainable Packaging

Yes, we are part of a recycling scheme in conformity with the governmental requirements. Please see the most recently issued recycling scheme certificate.

We use the highest post consumer recycled materials for all our packaging and continuously look for further improvements. Our paint containers aren’t just grey because it’s our brand colour, it’s a by-product of their post-consumer material. In fact, our paint containers have the highest post-consumer recycled content available, currently between 30-50%. They are shipped without any metal components, be it handles, spring clips or the pail itself. We also ensure that our packaging is fully recyclable and easy to separate. Our shipping packaging is made from unbleached recycled cardboard and contains no plastic wrapping fillers or cushioning. 

All Bauwerk Colour packaging is fully recyclable. When packaging and posting our products we ensure that:

• packaging made from unbleached recycled cardboard without any plastic wrapping or plastic fillers or cushioning.
• our paint is shipped in plastic paint pails with the highest post consumer recycled content available (currently between 30-50%), without any other materials used (such as metal).
• packaging that is easy to separate and recycle (ie. cardboard inserts, no foam or foam chips)

Where we use printing ink we only use a single colour with the lowest possible environmental impact.

Innovation

Our latest trial is a 'Bag in a Box' packaging for our 10 litre Prep Coat. This package would reduce the need for warehouse storage, minimise the use of plastic in the actual container, extend product shelf life, reduce shipping volume requirements, and decrease the amount of cardboard needed for protective shipping packaging.

We use only plastic containers either as a pail or as a bag. None of our packaging is of composite material, which makes sorting super easy.

We do not use metal for the packing, neither as a handle or a spring clip.

All paint pails are made with the highest available post consumer recycled content.

Where we use bags to ship our paint we reduce the packaging to ⅓ rd of its weight, compared to a pail, reduce storage by 1/5 and can ship in the same volume double the amount of product.
