Limewash naturally weathers over time outdoors, developing softness and variation with exposure to the elements. Over time your pots will develop an interesting patina full of character. The rate of this depends on how often the pot is watered and what soil type is used. Usually the paint will last for a season or so. You can then very quickly and easily reapply the same colour, change to a new colour on top of the existing coat or sand back.

The pigments used in Bauwerk Limewash Paints are mineral-based, colourfast and UV stable. This means that our colours are not affected by the sun’s ultraviolet rays (which can cause paint colours to fade). Our paints have been fully tested in the extreme temperatures of Australia and the Middle East.

Limewash paint is ideal for porous materials like terracotta, as it gets absorbed into the surface. This enables the pots to breathe, encouraging better plant health, while also reflecting heat and keeping roots cooler. It's also an easy way to refresh both old and new pots in a colour that fits your space perfectly.

The coverage of Limewash Paint on raw absorbent terracotta is 7-10 m² (75–107 ft²) per litre, per coat, with 2-3 coats required for full coverage.

Typically, our 250 ml size covers around four standard-sized planters, depending on the surface texture and porosity of the pot.
