Where limewash works best on architectural trim
Can you paint skirting boards, baseboards or mopboards with limewash paint?
We don’t recommend limewashing skirting boards or other low-level trim. Bauwerk Limewash Paint is completely matte, which means it can’t be cleaned like gloss paints. Skirting boards are prone to scuff marks and everyday wear from vacuums, shoes and general use—making them less suited to limewash.
Can you limewash coving or crown mouldings?
While we don’t typically recommend limewash paint for architectural elements like architraves, crown mouldings are more feasible. Our tips to get a good result: Don't try to get a cloudy or extra textured result, just apply but stretching the paint as best you can in any direction. Because your brush movement is limited to side-to-side strokes, it can be harder to feather out the paint to match the rest of your wall. The more intricate the design of the coving, the more challenging this becomes.
