Lime Wash Paint Sample Pots

Bauwerk Sample Pots are ordered to confirm the final shade of colour for a project. That is because light conditions vary, not just between different locations, also by room orientation and with natural or artificial lighting.

When you apply the sample paint on a surface that is closely matching you will be able to judge how the surface texture brings out the colours in a new way.

250ml are usually enough for about 1 to 1.5 m2 of sample area. If you are preferring a larger sample area order more 250ml size or select a 1 liter size.

The sample paint is made to the same specifications. It comes ready to use, just shake it well, stir and decant into another container.

Sample Pot paints can be applied directly onto clean interior and exterior walls or portable board surfaces.

For interior application we recommend to use Bauwerk Limewash Prep Coat as a base over previously painted walls, gypsum and lime plasters, gypsum plaster boards, dry wall panels and wall paper.

Avoid painting samples in neat squares, having a feathered out sample will help hide the sample area when repainting.

Bauwerk Limewash is a natural mineral paint. The final colour appearance is shaped by the interaction between the colour, substrate, light, surface texture and application technique. As a result, the same colour may appear lighter, darker, more uniform or more varied depending on the wall, its absorbency, the light conditions and the way the paint is applied.

Digital colour representations, printed cards and samples serve as a guide. For a more reliable assessment, a test application on the actual substrate is always recommended.

The substrate must be suitable, clean, sound and prepared in accordance with the application instructions. Absorbency, moisture, salts, tannins, contamination, existing coatings or unsuitable primers can affect the final result and its durability.

Please refer to the stated areas of use for each product. Products and primers intended for interior use are not automatically suitable for exterior surfaces. Exterior applications have specific requirements regarding the substrate, weather exposure, water management and maintenance.

The natural appearance of limewash differs from that of a synthetic coating with a completely uniform finish. Subtle tonal movement, depth and variations characteristic of the material are part of the product's character.

The colour in the Lime wash Sample Pot is accurate when applied to a surface that is a close match to the surface you are wanting to paint.

If you use a sample board you can place it against different walls that receive a different amount of light. In the photo example below you can see how different the the same colour paint appear with more light or less light.

It is very important to view your Colour Samples vertically against the wall and in the correct light, this is because of light refraction, it is always better to look at the card in the actual space, perhaps view the cards over the day to see how the light changes.

As with Colour Cards, if you apply your sample paint on a sample board you can place it flat agains the surface you wish to decorate.

Yes, it is best to have the same preparation steps done for a sample surface as for the final surface.

1. Mix thoroughly and decant in a suitable container or bucket.
   Make sure no pigment remains in the sample pot, continue to stir paint regularly throughout the painting process.
2. Dip the brush into bucket, flick off the excess paint. Brush can hold a lot of paint but should not be dripping.
3. Using a BAUWERK natural bristle brush, use loose, free strokes to stretch the paint as far as possible in all directions varying horizontal with vertical strokes – do not leave drips or runs.
4. Maintain a wet edge at all times to prevent colour overlays.
5. Do not be alarmed at the darker, transparent look of the paint. As it dries it will lighten to the chosen colour and become opaque, it is very important not to compensate for this transparency by overloading the brush or walls with paint as this will result in poor adherence and powdering.

Limewash paint should be stored in a airtight container, frost free, away from direct sunlight and out of reach from children.

Generally the paint should be used up within 6 months of purchase date. Many colours will store much longer, depending on the pigments the paint is made of.

Clean up
Brushes wash out quickly with minimal water and without harm to groundwater.

Disposal
Allow the leftover lime wash paint to completely dry out. The remaining cake can safely be disposed in the normal household rubbish

Paint splashes can cause irritation to the skin and eyes, please wear personal protection.
